BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo women's basketball assistant coach Erin Sinnott was named one of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Thirty Under 30 honorees for the 2023-24 season, as announced by the association Thursday.
The WBCA Thirty Under 30 program was created to recognize 30 up-and-coming women's basketball coaches aged 30 and under at all levels of the game. Each honoree has exemplified their involvement in community service, mentorship and impact on others, professional manner, and attitude and professional association involvement. This is the ninth year of the WBCA Thirty Under 30 program.
"I'm extremely grateful to be recognized by the WBCA," said Sinnott. "This wouldn't be possible without the support of Coach Burke, our staff, and the administration here at UB. It's the just beginning and I look forward to the opportunity to continue to grow the game and impact young women through the game of basketball."
Sinnott recently completed her second season on the Bulls' bench. She helped lead the Bulls to a 19-14 overall record, highlighted by a trip to the Mid-American Conference championship game and a postseason WNIT appearance. UB had individual success as well as Chellia Watson was named First Team All-MAC and Kirsten Lewis-Williams was named MAC Freshman of the Year. Under her guidance the Bulls also saw success off the court as Rana Elhusseini and Hattie Ogden were named to the Academic All-District Team.
Sinnott came to Buffalo after serving as an intern under head coach Lindsey Whalen at the University of Minnesota during the 2021-22 season. Prior to Minnesota, Sinnott was the Director of Operations at Rising Coaches, which helps to facilitate an inclusive community for basketball coaches at all levels. Before Rising Coaches, she was a graduate assistant the marketing department at Southern Illinois University, where she earned a master's degree in sports administration.
She played two seasons (2017-19) at Daemen University, where she graduated with a degree in business administration. She started the first eight games as a junior before missing the rest of the season with an injury but bounced back and appeared in 21 games as a senior. Prior to Daemen, Sinnott played at Evansville where she scored 73 points in 41 games over two seasons.
