Bulls Travel to Miami (OH) on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team (11-8, 5-4 MAC) looks to win their third straight league game for the first time this season as they travel to Oxford for a contest against Miami (OH) on Wednesday at 7pm.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Steve Baker (play-by-play) and Carol Smith (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on 1520 AM or on the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the 50th overall meeting between Buffalo and Miami (OH) with the Bulls owning a 29-20 overall record. The teams split a pair of meetings last season with each team winning on the other's floor.
Buffalo led for all but 34 seconds, courtesy of solid play on both ends of the floor, in a 75-63 win over Eastern Michigan on Saturday. The Bulls were led offensively by redshirt senior guard Chellia Watson who recorded her second carer double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds while freshman guard Kirsten Lewis-Williams tied her career-high with 21 points to go with a career-best eight assists. Senior Rana Elhusseini also scored in double figures with 13 points while Alexis Davis narrowly missed out on double figures with eight points.
Watson, a four-time MAC Player of the Week, leads the league and ranks third in the nation in scoring at 24.9 points per game to go with 5.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per contest. She also ranks in the top 10 nationally in field goals made (198), field goals made per game (9.9) and total points (497). Lewis-Williams currently ranks 11th in the MAC in scoring (12.1 ppg) and 12th in rebounding (6.0 rpg), which is first and second, respectively, among all rookies in the league in those categories. Elhusseini (8.7 ppg, 3.1 apg) and Ogden (7.8 ppg, 4.9 rpg) continue to be impact players for UB while Davis is second on the team in rebounding.
As a team, Buffalo is ranked in the top four in the MAC in scoring offense (68.3), scoring defense (64.0), scoring margin (+4.3), field goal percentage (.430), field goal defense (.385), three-point field goal percentage (.315), 3FG defense (.287) and assist-to-turnover ratio (+1.0). The Bulls are averaging 35 points per game in the paint while also turning defense into offense, averaging 15.4 points per contest off opponent's turnovers.
The Miami (OH) RedHawks are 5-15 overall and 3-7 in league action after defeating Akron 58-48 on Saturday. The RedHawks are led offensively by freshman Amber Tretter who is averaging 10.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Jadyn Scott (9.8 ppg, 3.7 rpg) and Jadyn's twin sister Jada (5.7 ppg) are also main contributors. Tretter has 10 double-digit scoring performances this season and recorded career-bests in points (27) and rebounds (16) against Central Michigan. She ranks sixth in the MAC in rebounding, the best amongst all rookies in the league. Scott is third in the league in field goal percentage (46.8%). She has led Miami in scoring eight times this year and has surpassed 20 points twice.
Miami ranks fourth in the MAC in total steals (168) and have recorded 71 steals over their past seven games, including a season-best 15 against Eastern Michigan. The RedHawks have recorded double-digit steals five times this season. Glenn Box is in his first season at the helm of the RedHawks after spending the past seven seasons at Indiana, the last four as associate head coach.
