Bulls Host Binghamton on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team opens the month of December with three straight home games, beginning on Wednesday as they welcome Binghamton to Alumni Arena for a 6pm contest.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Paul Peck (play-by-play) and Matt Mattia (color) announcing and can be heard on ESPN 1520 and the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the sixth overall meeting between Buffalo and Binghamton with the Bulls owning a 5-1 series advantage, including a win in the last matchup, a 65-47 victory at Alumni Arena in 2013.
Buffalo dominated from start to finish in a 74-46 wire-to-wire victory over St. Bonaventure on Saturday. With the victory, the Bulls complete the Big 4 sweep for the second straight year and move to 7-0 on the season for the first time since 2016. Four Bulls scored in double figures, led by Chellia Watson who scored a game-high 15 points. Sophomore Paula Lopez had a breakthrough performance with a career-high 13 points to go with a career-best seven assists and fellow sophomore Kirsten Lewis-Williams stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Senior Terah Harness also scored in double figures for the third straight game with 11 points while Alexis Davis narrowly missed out on a double-double with 9 points and 11 rebounds.
The Bulls have four players averaging in double figures on the season, led by Watson who is averaging 19.1 points per game. Lewis-Williams (12.3 ppg) and Harness (11.9) are also averaging in double figures while Noelani Cornfield is averaging 9.2 points per contest while leading the team in assists (34). Davis is leading the team in rebounding, averaging just under a double-double with 9.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
As a team, the Bulls lead the league in scoring offense (79.7), scoring defense (53.4), scoring margin (+26.3), field goal percentage (.455), field goal defense (.360), assists (121) and turnover margin (+10.1) while also ranking in the top three in 3FG defense (.260), rebounding (41.3), steals per game (11.7) and free throw percentage (.750).
The Binghamton Bearcats are 5-3 overall after defeating Loyola (MD) 62-46 on Saturday. The Bearcats were picked to finish fifth in the America East preseason coaches poll. They return nine letterwinners and add five newcomers to this year's squad. Preseason All-Conference selection Jadyn Weltz leads the Bearcats and ranks seventh in the America East with 12.5 points per game. She is also in the top five in both steals (2.3 spg) and assists (3.0 apg). Sophomore Leah Middleton is second on the team and 11th in the conference in scoring (10.9 ppg).
As a team, Binghamton leads the conference in steals per game (9.8) while ranking in the top four in scoring (63.5 ppg), scoring margin (+6.9), three-point percentage (.321), offensive rebounds (11.8 rpg) and turnover margin (+2.1). The Bearcats are taking advantage of its opportunities at the free throw line as they rank third in the league and 35th nationally in free throw percentage (.764). Binghamton has also proven to be a fundamentally sound defensive team as they lead the league and rank in the top 10 nationally in fewest fouls committed per game (12.8).
