12/29/2024 7:48:00 PM | Men's Basketball
PHILADELPHIA – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (5-7, 0-0 MAC) fell to the Temple Owls (8-5, 0-0 AAC) on Sunday afternoon, 91-71.
In back-to-back games, every Bull that entered the game ended up with a basket. Anquan Boldin Jr. and Tyson Dunn led the team with 11 points apiece. Noah Batchelor had a team-high 6 rebounds and 3 three-pointers. Boldin had a solid defensive performance as he had a block and 3 steals.
The Bulls played well on both ends of the floor at the start of the game as they had their largest lead of the game at 13-7 less than five minutes into the game. Buffalo got off to a hot start from the floor as they shot 10-of-16 (62.5%). The offense cooled down as their last made basket of the half came with 7:30 to go in the half as Frederiks Meinarts nailed a three. With the offense struggling to score, Temple took advantage of the opportunity and closed the half on a 16-1 run. In the run, Buffalo was 0-for-9 from the floor with 4 turnovers in that stretch. The Owls led at the half, 39-29.
It was a tough battle for the offense as the offensive struggles carried over into the second half. After starting 10-for-16, the Bulls went 15-of-48 from the floor. Temple maintained the double-digit lead until the Bulls went on an 8-0 run to cut the lead to 8 with 9:55 to go. In the run, they scored 6 points in a 13-second span. The Owls' lead was too much to overcome as they went on to win the affair.
The Bulls are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 4 when they travel to Oxford, Ohio to play the Miami RedHawks to open the conference schedule. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with tip-off at 1 p.m.
