Bulls Take Care of Business on Senior Night

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (16-15, 12-6 MAC) improved their home record on the season to 12-1 after they defeated the Eastern Michigan Eagles (13-19, 7-11 MAC) on Saturday evening, 3-1 (26-24, 22-25, 25-19, 25-12)
Mandy Leigh earned her 13th double-double of the season with 37 assists and 10 digs. Maria Futey and Keira Kleidon both finished with 16 digs. Katrin Trebichavska led the team with 11 kills. Abby Leigh finished with a match-high 19.0 points as she had 9 kills, 5 aces and 6 total blocks.
The Bulls continued to rack up the aces on their home court as they added 10 to their season total.
With the Bulls looking to end the regular season on a high note, the Eagles looked to spoil their night. Buffalo took a 15-10 lead at the media timeout, but the Eagles tied the set at 17. Eastern Michigan managed to take a 24-23 lead and force a Buffalo timeout. The Bulls scored three-straight points to win the set, 26-24.
Eastern Michigan tied the match at one after a 25-22 set two win. Both offenses struggled as the Eagles outhit the Bulls, .143 to .139.
Buffalo's offense still carried over a slow production as they only hit .162. Fortunately for them, A. Leigh had 3 solo blocks in the set. The Bulls' defense forced 14 total Eastern Michigan errors in the set. Buffalo won, 25-19.
The Bulls ran away with the fourth set, 25-12. Eastern Michigan tied the set at 7, but only scored 5 points the rest of the set to the Bulls' 18. The Bulls forced 8 attack errors as the Eagles only hit -.074 in the fourth.
The Bulls are back in action tomorrow on Friday as they'll face the 4-seeded Western Michigan Broncos in the MAC Tournament Quarterfinals.
