BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo women's soccer head coach Shawn Burke announced his 2025 signing class on Wednesday. Seven student-athletes will join a Bulls' squad that advanced to the championship game of the 2024 Mid-American Conference Tournament.
"We have a very deep and talented 2025 class, all of which are capable of competing for minutes right away and helping us stay atop the conference," said Burke.
Jessie Bernabe – Furlong, PA – Central Bucks East – Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals – Midfielder
Bernabe comes to Buffalo from Furlong, PA where she currently plays for Central Bucks High School. She is coming off a stellar junior season in which she scored a career-best 14 goals and earned All-League First Team honors while helping to lead the Patriots to a league championship for the first time since 2014 and a third straight state tournament appearance. Bernabe also plays club ball for the Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals where she has won three straight GA Mid-Atlantic titles, going undefeated for all three seasons. Off the pitch she is a member of the National Honor Society.
Burke on Bernabe: A versatile midfielder who can make an impact on both sides of the ball. Very high soccer IQ and toughness we'll need in the middle of the park.
Liv Johnsen – Croton-on-Hudson, NY – Hendrick Hudson H.S. – NY Soccer Club – Forward
Johnsen comes to Buffalo from Croton-on-Hudson, NY where she has been a standout for Hendrick Hudson High School, recording 61 goals and 35 assists over her decorated career. She is a three-time all-league and two-time all-section honoree. She consistently ranks in the top of Section I in total goals while leading the Sailors to a co-league championship and a sectional quarterfinals appearance, the furthest run in team history. Johnsen also plays for the New York Soccer Club where she helped lead the squad to a Penn Fusion Girls Winter Showcase and SuperCopa+ championship. She was also called up twice for the U17 Danish National Team. Off the pitch she is a member of the high honor roll.
Burke on Johnsen: A fantastic winger who's club and international experience bring a wealth of soccer IQ and athleticism to the flanks.
Amelia Layden – Pearl River, NY – Pearl River H.S. – World Class FC – Center Back
Layden comes to Buffalo from Pearl River, NY where she currently plays for Pearl River High School. She was named the 2023 Conference Player of the Year and is a three-time all-league and two-time all-section honoree while helping lead the Pirates to three league championships and two section semifinal appearances. She plays her club ball for World Class FC where she helped lead the squad to two New England Conference championships and was a two-time first-team All-Conference selection. She is also a member of the Pearl River basketball team where she is a three-time Defensive Player of the Year. In the classroom she is a member of the Spanish National Honor Society and the Rho Kappa Social Studies National Honor Society.
Burke on Layden: A smart and physical defender who has an exceptional read on the game in front of her. Will help bring depth to our talented backline.
Maddy Murphy – Lansdale, PA – North Penn Senior H.S. – Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals – Forward
Murphy comes to Buffalo from North Penn Senior High School where she has had a standout career, recording 41 career goals and 28 assists and helped lead the Knights to two district playoff appearances. She plays club ball for the Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals where she helped lead the club to three Girls Academy Mid-Atlantic Conference championships, three national playoff appearances, three Champions Cut qualifier appearances and a Champion Cup Final Four.
Burke on Murphy: A powerful and crafty forward who can play both back to goal and running at you. Will be a handful for defenders in the MAC.
Kelly-Ann Prince – Sherbrooke, Quebec – Triolet School – Celtix Haut Richelieu U17F PLSJQ– Midfielder
Prince comes to Buffalo from Sherbrooke, Quebec where she attends the Triolet School and plays for Celtix Haut Richelieu U17F PLSJQ. She was also the Student Female Athlete of the Year at the Provincial Sports Gala in 2023.
Burke on Prince: She embodies all the characteristics we look for in a central midfielder. Great engine, technical, quick and versatile.

Schoburgh to Buffalo from Whitby, Ontario where she attends the Donald A Wilson High School and plays for NDC Ontario, where she helped lead the squad to a League 1 Championship in 2024 as well as a Markahm City OPDL Cup championship in 2023 and a Markham City Charity Sheild championship in 2022. Schoburgh was also called up to the U15 and U20 Guyana National Team.
Burke on Schoburgh: A tireless worker whose drive should propel her for an impactful college career. Her pace and attacking mentality will be a great addition to our attack.
Adriana Victoriano – Setauket, NY – Ward Melville – USSA FC ECNL – Midfielder
Victoriano comes to Buffalo from Setauket, NY where she plays for Ward Melville. She was named to the All-State Third Team and is an All-County and All-Long Island selection while helping lead the Patriots to two state championships, two Suffolk County championships and a pair of Long Island championships. She plays her club ball for SUSA FC ECNL where she has helped lead the club to four playoff berths and a Round of 16 appearance.
Burke on Victoriano: I'm still not certain what position Adri will play, I just know she'll play. A do-it-all midfield/defender we might just see here everywhere but goalie.
