Bulls Host Senior Day Saturday Against Ohio

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo swimming and diving team is set to host Senior Day against the University of Ohio on Saturday, January 20th. The team will be honoring seniors Kasey Keaney, Grace Wood and Marij van der Mast before the meet begins at 10:45am, with the action beginning in the pool at 11am.
The Bulls will face off against the undefeated Bobcats, who have four wins this season, with head-to-head victories against two Mid-American Conference opponents in Bowling Green and Akron. Buffalo is now 1-3 following last weekend's action, with two losses to MAC opponents in Ball State and Miami of Ohio earlier this season.
The Bulls will look to build off their recent momentum, going 1-1 in a tri-meet against Duquesne and Marshall this past weekend. Buffalo dropped their matchup to the Herd 212.0-157.0, but beat the Dukes 206.50-159.50.
Mia Naccarella and Clarice Fisher led the way for the Bulls, combining to win three events on day one. The two upperclassmen also earned second-place finishes, along with Nicole Aguilar, Karen Austin and Keaney. Buffalo started both Friday and Saturday with second place finishes in the 200 yard medley relay and the 400 yard medley relay, closing out the weekend with a second-place finish in the 400 freestyle.
The Bulls also hosted the UB Diving Invite on Friday and Saturday, dominating the diving leaderboards on both days.
The Bulls started strong on Friday, taking five of the 12 spots in the finals. Victoria Franz's first place finish (341.90) highlighted the event, but the Bulls had a strong team performance in the finals with Marialis Kwak placing second (325.90), Presley Dorsett taking third (310.90), Maggie Meyers finishing ninth (262.85) and Sophie Meuwissen placing 11th (239.30).
Buffalo kept their momentum going in 1-meter diving on Saturday, with four of the top five finals spots being Buffalo divers, and Franz winning again (302.40) in an event of 39 total divers. Following Franz's first place finish was Dorsett in second (281.85), Kwak finishing third (279.35) and Mallory Hanna placing fifth (251.20). Kaylee Donovan (9th, 233.75) and Meuwissen (11th, 226.20) also qualified for the finals.
