Simmons Named MAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo women's soccer sophomore defender Ellie Simmons has been named the Mid-American Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
It is the second weekly honor for the Bulls and the first for Simmons this season.
The reigning MAC Defensive Player of the Year had a stellar week for the Bulls, playing all 180 minutes and continuing to prove dangerous on service from set pieces as she led UB to a pair of shutout victories on the week. The Bulls played to a scoreless draw at Canisius on Thursday before defeating Niagara 2-0 on Sunday. Buffalo has now recorded three straight shutouts.
Simmons and the Bulls return to action on Sunday, September 10 as they welcome Cornell to UB Stadium at 1pm.
