SZEGED, Hungary – University at Buffalo women's volleyball player Manoela Forlin is set for international competition at this year's U19 FIVB World Championships in Hungary and Croatia from August 1-11. The championships will host 104 matches over the course of 11 days in Osijek, Croatia and Szeged, Hungary. Brazil is just one of 24 nations participating in this year's world championships.
"I think it is every athlete's dream of being able to play representing your home country, there's nothing better than seeing all your dedication on and off the court has been rewarded," Manoela Forlin said. "Being on Brazil's national volleyball team makes my heart flutter with happiness, joy, and pride every time I wear my green, blue, and yellow uniform."
Following her time with the Brazil U19 National Team, she will rejoin her UB teammates for preseason workouts before starting their season at the UAB Invite on August 25.
"We are so excited for, and proud of, Manoela," Head Coach Scott Smith exclaimed. "To be selected to play in such a high-level international tournament, representing her home country of Brazil is such an honor and personal accomplishment. I can't help but point out that she will be representing the UB volleyball program on the national stage as well! The entire team is looking forward to watching her matches and cheering her on throughout the beginning of preseason!"
