Bulls Drop Doubleheader at Miami (OH)

OXFORD, Ohio – The University at Buffalo softball team (10-22, 4-4 MAC) dropped both games to close out the series against the Miami (OH) RedHawks (20-14, 8-6 MAC) on Saturday afternoon.
Timely hitting was the difference in today's games against the RedHawks. In game one, the Bulls lost 5-0 as they could only muster one hit to Miami's nine. The Bulls put 12 balls in play, but Brianna Castro's double in the sixth inning broke up the RedHawks' perfect game. Julia Tarantino walked following Castro's double, but a nifty double play got Miami out of a jam.
Miami had a balanced offense as they scored a run in five straight innings. The Bulls had no response.
Things didn't get much better in game two as the RedHawks won, 5-0. Miami had the same stat line by scoring five runs on nine hits, but the Bulls only had two hits. Castro continued to put the ball in play as she singled in the fourth inning. Madison Fernimen singled past third base in the sixth inning, but was stranded on base.
UB will play a midweek series against the Akron Zips on Tuesday and Wednesday at home.
