Bulls Host Akron for Midweek Series

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo softball team (10-22, 4-4 MAC) is set to play the Akron Zips (19-15, 7-7 MAC) in a three-game series this week at Nan Harvey Field. First pitch will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11 with games two and three being played on Wednesday.
Buffalo enters the weekend with a 10-22 overall record and 4-4 in MAC play. The Bulls were swept by the Miami (OH) RedHawks over the weekend, dropping them to eighth in the MAC standings. The Zips took all three games against Buffalo last season. The Bulls are being led offensively by freshman Abbey Nagel, who is batting .267 with 27 hits. Alexis Lucyshyn and Sara Kelly each have three home runs, a team best. Madison Fernimen (14), Kelly (13), and Lucyshyn (10) lead the Bulls with double digit RBIs.
In the circle, Lucyshyn is 4-9 with a 2.81 ERA as she has struck out 109 batters in 94.2 innings pitched.
The Zips are coming off two wins against the Western Michigan Broncos, taking games two and three of the series. The Zips are 7-7 in MAC play. Offensively, they're led by Alexis Campbell who holds a .333 batting average. She also second on the team with 37 hits, as Brooke Sivek leads the Zips with 42 hits on the season. Sivek has also scored 25 times. Pitching has been a solid for the Zips as they hold a 2.87 ERA. They allow opponents to just a .247 batting average.
Following the series against Akron, the Bulls will travel to Muncie, Ind. to play the Ball State Cardinals on Saturday and Sunday.
