Bulls Lose 4-2 at Kent State

KENT, Ohio – The University at Buffalo softball team (10-32, 4-14 MAC) lost to the Kent State Golden Flashes (13-28, 8-11 MAC) on Tuesday afternoon, 4-2.
The Bulls got on the board in the second inning courtesy of a Mia Mitchell solo home run to give the Bulls a 1-0 lead. That would be all the Bulls would score until the later stages of the game.
Kent State took a 2-1 lead in the third inning as they hit a two-run home run. The Golden Flashes padded their lead as two runs scored in the fifth inning on a single to right center. Kent State took a 4-1 lead.
Buffalo's comeback was too little too late as Brianna Castro hit a sacrifice fly to right field allowing Alexis Lucyshyn to score. Down 4-2 in the seventh inning, the score would hold as Kent State took game one of the series.
Getting hits for the Bulls were Mitchell, Lucyshyn, and Madison Fernimen.
Lucyshyn threw six innings, striking out eight batters and allowed four runs on eight hits.
The Bulls will continue their series against the Golden Flashes with a doubleheader tomorrow. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
