Bulls Travel to Kent State for Midweek Series

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo softball team (10-31, 4-13 MAC) is set to travel to Kent, Ohio for a three-game series against the Kent State Golden Flashes (12-28, 7-11 MAC). Game one of the series will take place on Tuesday at 3 p.m. as the series wraps up with a doubleheader on Wednesday beginning at 1 p.m.
Buffalo enters the weekend with a 10-31 overall record and 4-13 in MAC play. The Bulls were swept by the Central Michigan Chippewas over the weekend and look to get back in the win column. The Bulls are being led offensively by senior Alexis Lucyshyn (.279) and freshman Abbey Nagel (.273). Lucyshyn has five home runs with Sara Kelly, Abbe Nagel, Mia Mitchell, and Madison Fernimen adding three each. Fernimen and Lucyshyn lead the team with 16 RBIs each, Kelly (13), Nagel (11), and Mitchell (10) lead the Bulls with double digit RBIs.
In the circle, Lucyshyn is 6-14 with a 2.92 ERA as she has struck out 142 batters in 129.1 innings pitched. The trio of Lucyshyn, Julia Tarantino, and Emily Watters have combined for a 4.25 ERA and 239 strikeouts.
The Golden Flashes are coming off a series win over the Western Michigan Broncos, as they lost game three of the series. Kent State is 7-11 in MAC play. Offensively, they're led by Bri Despines who holds a .321 batting average and 35 hits on the season. Emily Lippe has 27 RBIs for the Golden Flashes. As a team, they have hit 26 home runs on the year. Anilese Kelly leads the team in the circle with a 5-12 record and 4.21 ERA.
Following the series against Kent State, the Bulls will host the Northern Illinois Huskies on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30.
