Bulls Solid Under Pressure, Defeat George Washington 4-3

HILTON HEAD, SC – In their final non-conference test of the spring, the University at Buffalo women's tennis team showed great fight as they battled to a 4-3 victory over George Washington to close out their spring training trip. With the victory, the Bulls extend their win streak to seven matches and improve to 14-3 overall on the year.
The Bulls took the doubles point, which proved crucial as the two teams split singles action. Azra Deniz Comlek and Deanne Choo dominated with a 6-1 win at second doubles and, after the Colonials won at first, Lolina Schietekat Sedas and Mariana Carvajal Torres clinched the point with a 7-5 victory at third doubles.
After George Washington took the lead with wins at second and first singles, Basak Akbas evened the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win at third. Torres battled to a 6-4, 7-5 win at sixth singles and Ambre Amat overcame a dropped first set to clinch the match with a 4-6, 6-4, 10-5 win at fifth.
Buffalo returns to on Sunday, March 19 as they open Mid-American Conference play against Miami (OH) at the Miller Tennis Center at 1pm.
