Bulls Travel to Northern Illinois to face the Huskies

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (13-16, 7-9 MAC) will face the Northern Illinois Huskies (12-17, 8-8 MAC) on Tuesday evening at the Convocation Center. The game will tip-off at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+ with Andy Garcia on play-by-play and Mark Lindo as the analyst. Josh Whetzel will be on the radio call. The Bulls are coming off a 101-71 loss at Toledo on Saturday afternoon. LaQuill Hardnett and Zid Powell led the Bulls with 20 points each. Isaiah Adams finished with 15 points, rounding out the Bulls finishing in double figures. Armoni Foster had a team-high five assists as the Bulls finished with 13. This was the fifth game on the season that three Bulls scored 15 or more. The Bulls finished with five blocks, as Jonnivius Smith and Isaac Jack had two each. Zaakir Williamson had one block.

Curtis Jones is currently 10^th in the country in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.00. In the last six games he's had 24 assists and four turnovers.

The matchup between the Buffalo Bulls and NIU Huskies will be the 41st all-time meeting. Buffalo leads the series, 24-16. The Bulls are 8-9 on the road at the Convocation Center. This will be the second meeting between the schools this season. Buffalo won the first meeting on Saturday, Jan. 7 by a score of 80-62. In his career Head Coach Jim Whitesell is 7-1 against the Huskies. The matchup between the Bulls and Huskies will feature two of the top scorers in the MAC. Curtis Jones averages 14.9 ppg with David Coit averaging 15.9 ppg.

The Northern Illinois Huskies are 12-17 overall and 8-8 in the MAC after defeating Central Michigan on Feb. 25, 84-80. The Huskies have clinched a berth to the MAC Tournament with their win on Saturday despite bing picked 12^th in the MAC Preseason Coaches' Poll. At home, NIU is 4-6 on the season and average 77.1 ppg. The Huskies have three players averaging double figure points. Keshawn Williams leads the team in points (17.9 ppg) with David Coit (15.9 ppg), and Zarique Nutter (12.4 ppg) behind. Nutter leads the team with 5.0 rpg. As a team, NIU is second in the MAC in three-point field goal percentage defense at .333.

The Bulls will wrap up the regular season on Friday, March 3 at 7 p.m. against Miami (OH) at 7 p.m. for Senior Night.
