Bulls Open Final Road Trip of Regular Season on Wednesday at Eastern Michigan

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team embarks on its final road trip of the regular season this week, beginning with a contest at Eastern Michigan on Wednesday night at 12pm. With four games remaining, Eastern Michigan sits in seventh place in the MAC standings, while the Bulls are looking to move back up into the top eight and make it to postseason play in Cleveland.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Tom Helmer (play-by-play) and Alex Jewell (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on ESPN 1520 AM or on the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the 32nd overall meeting between Buffalo and Eastern Michigan with the Bulls owning a slim 16-15 series advantage. The Bulls have won eight straight meetings against the Eagles, most recently an 78-59 win at Alumni Arena on January 14. The Eagles are 0-8 against UB in the Fred Castro era.
The Bulls dropped another close contest, this time to Miami (OH) on Saturday. It was UB's third straight loss by five points or less. Fifth year guard Re'Shawna Stone put forth another fantastic performance, scoring a game-high 23 points. Joining Stone in double figures were Jazmine Young, who scored 15 points, and Zakiyah Winfield who scored 14 points to go with seven rebounds and five assists.
Stone is leading the Bulls in scoring at 16.7 ppg and has scored in double figures in 18 of the last 19 games while adding 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per contest. She has elevated her game in MAC play as she ranks third in scoring (20.2 ppg), fourth in field goal percentage (.528) and fifth in assists per game (3.9). Winfield leads the team in rebounding and assists at 10.2 rpg and 4.0 apg while ranking second on the team in scoring at 15.0 ppg and has recorded 13 double-doubles on the season. She is the top rebounding guard in the nation and ranks in the top 25 in the nation in double-doubles, rebounds per game and defensive rebounds per game. Young is having a career year, scoring in double figures in 19 of 23 games and averaging 13.7 points and 1.5 assists per contest. The Bulls rank in the top half of the MAC in field goal percentage (43.5), assists per game (13.0), turnover margin (+0.6) and assist-to-turnover ratio (+1.0).
The Eastern Michigan Eagles are 13-12 overall and 5-9 in the MAC after falling at Toledo 84-54 on Saturday. Redshirt junior forward Ce'Nara Skanes (13.1 ppg, 8.1 rpg) leads the Eagles in scoring and rebounding. Sophomore guard Lachelle Austin is also averaging in double figures at 12.6 ppg and Irekpitan Ozzy-Momodu is a solid contributor at 9.2 ppg and 5.9 rpg. Skanes, already the program's all-time leader in double-double efforts (30) has a career average of 9.2 rebounds per game, the best in program history. Austin has recorded three or more triples in 17 games this season, including seven straight. Sophomore Tayra Eke leads the MAC in total blocks (45) and blocks per game (1.8) while ranking eighth in rebounds per game (7.3). The Eagles lead the MAC and rank 31st nationally with 4.5 blocks per game. They are also second in rebounds per game (38.1) and third in rebounding margin (+3.0).
