Bulls Travel to Toledo for a Showdown Between Two 5-1 Squads

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (15-3, 5-1 MAC) will travel to Toledo, Ohio to face the Toledo Rockets (7-10, 5-1 MAC). This will be a huge matchup for the MAC standings as both teams are tied for third at 5-1.
The Bulls are off to a 5-1 start in MAC play, their best start in program history. Currently, UB sits third in the MAC standings and first in the MAC East Division. Historically, the Rockets have dominated the series as they hold a 24-6 overall record against the Bulls. Last season, Toledo defeated UB in four sets. Head Coach Scott Smith is 1-4 against the Rockets.
The Bulls are coming off a stellar week as they defeated the Central Michigan Chippewas and Eastern Michigan Eagles. In Thursday's match against the Chippewas, Katrin Trebichavska led the Bulls with a career-high 27 kills and 31.0 points. The Bulls won in five sets. In Friday's match, the Bulls won in straight sets for the eighth time. UB had 10 3-0 victories last season.
After a great week, UB took home two more weekly MAC honors. Mandy Leigh was named MAC East Setter of the Week as Trebichavska was named Offensive Player of the Week. M. Leigh averaged 11.38 assists per set, finishing with a total of 91. On Thursday night against the Chippewas, she racked up her team-leading 10th double-double of the season with 57 assists and 13 digs. In total she finished with three kills, one ace, 18 digs, two blocks, and 5.5 points. Leigh is now tied with the most MAC Player of the Week awards in program history with Kelly Svoboda (2010-14) with 10. This is her fourth honor of the season. Katrin Trebichavska averaged 4.88 kills per set, finishing with a team-leading 39 kills. The MAC's leader in aces per set added six to her total, good for 0.75 per set. Her 27 kills and 31.0 points against the Chippewas mark career-highs for the senior. She added one block, one assist, and a total of 45.5. points for the Bulls.
On the season, the Bulls are 11-2 when two players have 10 or more kills in a match. The only losses came on the road at Xavier and against Ohio. Katrin Trebichavska leads the team with 12 matches with 10 or more kills. There have been 15 double-doubles on the year by the Bulls. Mandy Leigh leads the team with 10, followed by Manoela Forlin (2), Trebichavska (2), and Maurine Calande (1).
Buffalo has the top hitting duo in the MAC with Courtney Okwara and Abby Leigh. Okwara ranks first the nation at .520 with A. Leigh at 65th and third in the MAC with a rate of .368.

They limit their opposition to just a .181 hitting percentage, good for 83rd in the NCAA and second in the MAC.
