Bulls Host Annual Pink Game vs. Bowling Green on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team (8-7, 3-3 MAC) looks to end a two-game skid as they welcome Bowling Green to Alumni Arena on Wednesday. The Falcons sit atop the standings at 5-1 in league play.
It will be the team's Pink Game, with fans encouraged to wear pink to support women's cancer awareness. Game day staff will be passing out "I Stand For" signs throughout the main concourse of the arena and fans are encouraged to take one and fill it out for a special moment in-game.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Paul Peck (play-by-play) and Matt Mattia (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on ESPN 1520AM or on the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the 49th overall meeting between Buffalo and Bowling Green with the Falcons owning a 27-21 series advantage. The Bulls swept the two-game series last season, including an 81-62 victory at Alumni Arena on Senior Day.
Buffalo battled back in the second half but came up short as they fell at Western Michigan on Saturday. Three Bulls scored in double figures, led by Jazmine Young who scored 15 points to go with three rebounds and two assists. Fellow fifth Zakiyah Winfield narrowly missed out on a double-double with 16 points and eight rebounds and Re'Shawna Stone added 15 points.
Stone and Winfield lead the team in scoring at 14.5 ppg. Stone has scored in double figures in 11 straight games while adding 5.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per contest. Winfield leads the team rebounding at 10.9 rebounds per game, is dishing out 3.9 assists per contest and has recorded 10 double-doubles on the season. She is the top rebounding guard in the nation and ranks in the top 20 in the nation in double-doubles, rebounds per game and defensive rebounds per game. Young has scored in double figures in 12 of 15 games and is averaging 14.2 points and 3.1 assists per contest. The Bulls lead the MAC in scoring defense (61.5) and rebounding defense (34.4) while ranking in the top half of the conference in field goal defense (40.7), 3FG defense (29.5) and field goal percentage (43.7).
The Bowling Green Falcons are 16-2 overall and 5-1 in the MAC after defeating Kent State 66-57 on Saturday. They return 10 players, including four starters, from last year's team. Elissa Brett leads the Falcons in scoring at 12.7 ppg. BGSU is balanced offensively as Allison Day (12.3 ppg), Nyla Hampton (11.8 ppg) and Morgan Sharps (10.4 ppg) are also scoring in double figures. Brett became the 30th 1,000-point scorer in program history in BGSU's win at Akron. Hampton leads the MAC and ranks 12th in the nation in steals per game (3.1) and is 17th in total steals (56). She is also ranked 56th in the nation in assist/turnover ratio and is shooting over 53% from the field. The Falcons are currently ninth in the nation in scoring offense (82.3 ppg). They have topped the 90-point mark six times this season – including three contests with over 100 points – and BG has scored at least 70 points in 16 of 18 games. BGSU has had fewer turnovers than the opponent in 17 of 18 games this season to date, and the Falcons are currently fourth in the nation in turnover margin (+9.3).
