Bulls Travel to Mount Pleasant in Search of Third MAC Victory

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (8-8, 2-1 MAC) will travel to Mount Pleasant, Mich. to face the Central Michigan Chippewas (6-10, 1-2 MAC) on Saturday afternoon. The game will tip-off at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN3 with Josh Whetzel on the radio call. You can listen to the game on 1520 AM (Buffalo)/1280 AM (Rochester) or online with the Varsity App.
The Bulls are coming off a tough 91-80 loss in Oxford, Ohio at the hands of the Miami RedHawks. In the contest, Zid Powell recorded eight steals which tied the program record. He joined Modie Cox (1994), Michael Washington (1988), and Gary Domzalski (1973) in the UB record books. Powell went on to add 20 points as Armoni Foster scored a career-high 19 points.
The matchup between the Bulls and Chippewas will be the 41st all-time meeting. Buffalo leads the series, 26-14. The Bulls are 8-9 on the road against the Chippewas.
The Central Michigan Chippewas are 6-10 overall, 1-2 in the MAC after losing to the Northern Illinois Huskies 73-54 on Jan. 10. At home in the McGuirk Arena, CMU is 4-2 averaging 73.0 points per game. The Chippewas are led by Jesse Zarzuela who is averaging 14.7 ppg. Brian Taylor is just behind averaging 14.4 ppg and 6.6 rpg. As a team, Central Michigan is one of the best rebounding teams in the MAC. They're second in total rebounds (38.3) and tied for first in offensive rebounds (12.4).
With a win over the Chippewas, Buffalo would get their first true road win of the season.
After Saturday, the Bulls will host Bowling Green and Toledo for a two game homestand on Jan. 17 and 20.
