Volleyball to Co-Host WNY Invite on Thursday and Friday

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (4-2, 0-0 MAC) will co-host the WNY Invite with Canisius College on Thursday and Friday. UB will face the Canisius Golden Griffins (2-4, 0-0 MAAC), the Youngstown State Penguins (3-3, 0-0 Horizon), and the Bucknell Bison (6-0, 0-0 Patriot).
On Thursday evening, the Bulls will face co-host Canisius at 7 p.m. at the Koessler Athletic Center at Canisius College. In the all-time series, UB is 64-9-2 in 75 meetings against the Golden Griffins. Canisius has picked up wins against Purdue Fort Wayne and Western Illinois on the season.
At 11 a.m. on Friday, UB will host the Youngstown State Penguins. This will mark the first time both these teams will face each other since the 2011 season where the Bulls won, 3-1. Youngstown State has beaten Idaho, Delaware State, and St. Thomas this season.
Later that day at 5 p.m., The Bulls will face the undefeated Bucknell Bison. This will mark just the sixth time these programs will face off. UB is 5-0 against the Bison. In sox matches, Bucknell has only dropped four total sets. The Bison have defeated Bellarmine, Gardner-Webb, St. Francis (Pa.), George Washington, NJIT, and LIU.
UB is off to their best start through six matches with a 4-2 record as they started 5-1 in the 2018 season.
