Bulls Drop Midweek Contest to St. Bonaventure

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo softball team dropped a midweek contest to St. Bonaventure, 9-2, at Nan Harvey Field on Tuesday afternoon.
Offense was a premium in the early going as the teams combined for just two hits over the first two innings of play.
St. Bonaventure broke the game open in the top of the third as they loaded the bases with two outs and cleared them on a dropped fly ball by the Bulls and later added three runs on two more hits to take a 6-0 lead at the end of the third.
The Bulls chipped away in the bottom of the inning as Rachel Steffan doubled down the right field line and Alexis Lucyshyn and Alexis Matheney followed with back-to-back RBI singles put UB on the board and pull within four.
The Bonnies added a pair of insurance runs on two hits in the top of the fourth to go up 8-2 and that was more than enough as the Bulls were held to just two hits over the final four innings.
Weather permitting, Buffalo will travel across town tomorrow to face off against local rival Canisius in a single game at 4pm.
