Bulls Roll Past Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, MI – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team won their third straight match on Sunday afternoon as the Bulls defeated Eastern Michigan, 6-1. The victory improves the Bulls to 15-6 and 4-3 in league play.
The Bulls came away with the doubles point claiming victories at one and three. The third doubles team of Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou and Gabriella Akopyan were the first Bulls to be victorious with a 6-1 win. UB then clinched the point at one courtesy of Pia Schwarz and Azra Deniz Comlek, 6-4.
In singles action all six contests were decided in straight sets with the Bulls winning five of them. Sophomore Mariana Carvajal Torres was the first to win with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at sixth singles, while Comlek claimed a 6-1, 6-2 victory at five.
Eastern Michigan got on the board with a win at fourth singles, but the Bulls then clinched the match at three as Akopyan came away with a 6-4, 6-2 win. Senior Hsin-Yuan Shih won her first MAC contest at first singles, 7-5, 6-2, and Schwarz won at two, 7-6, 6-4.
The Bulls have three regular season contests remaining beginning on Friday at home as the Bulls host Bowling Green at 11:00 am.
