
Bulls Split A Pair Of Matches

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team split their two matches this week as the Bulls lost to Youngstown State on Thursday, 5-2, and then defeated Binghamton with a 7-0 shutout on Friday.
In the contest against the Penguins, Youngstown State won the doubles point and four of the six matches in singles. Ambre Amat came away with a 6-4, 6-3 win at four and Azra Deniz Comlek won easily at six, 6-2, 6-0.
On Friday, UB dominated the action beginning with doubles. Comlek and Pia Schwarz swept their opponent at first doubles, 6-0, and UB clinched the point as Amat and Lolina Schietekat Sedas won at second doubles, 6-2.
The Bulls lost just 11 games total in the six singles matches, winning all of them in straight sets. Schwarz won 6-0, 6-1 at first singles and Hsin-Yuan Shih won 6-1, 6-0 at two. Gabriella Akopyan grabbed a 6-2, 6-3 victory at three and Amat won 6-0, 6-1 at four.
Comlek won her match at fifth singles 6-0, 6-1, and Mariana Carvajal Torres completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at six.
The 10-2 Bulls continue action next Friday at Cornell.
