
Bulls Travel to Toledo This Weekend

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo softball team travels to Toledo for a three-game series with the Rockets at Scott Park this weekend.
Weather permitting, the weekend will begin with a 3pm game on Friday followed by a doubleheader at 1pm/3pm on Saturday.
The Bulls are coming off a solid weekend in which they took two of three games from Ohio to open Mid-American Conference play. The Bulls swept Friday's doubleheader with a pair of walk-off victories before dropping the series finale on Saturday.
Buffalo is led at the plate by junior Alexis Lucyshyn who owns a .333 batting average to go with a team-best 18 hits, three doubles, two home runs, 13 RBI and eight runs scored while recording a .500 slugging and .419 on base percentage. Junior Brianna Castro is a veteran presence at the plate as she is batting .320 with 16 hits, four doubles, a triple, a home run, seven RBI and six runs scored while recording a .500 slugging percentage. Sophomore Rachel Steffan is also off to a good start, batting .278 with 15 hits, three doubles, two triples, two home runs, 11 RBI and 12 runs scored while leading the team with a .519 slugging percentage.
Sophomore Julia Tarantino leads UB in the circle as she owns a 5-5 overall record with a 3.76 ERA and has struck out 36 batters while allowing just nine walks in 63.1 innings of work. Lucyshyn has also been solid in the circle as she is 5-4 overall with an ERA of 3.80 and has also struck out 66 batters and recorded seven complete games in 55.1 innings pitched.
Toledo enters the weekend series with an 8-15 overall record after dropping two of three games at Western Michigan to open MAC play last weekend. The Rockets are led offensively by Dayna Denner who is batting .444 with 28 hits, including four doubles and five home runs, 17 RBI and 14 runs scored while recording a .746 slugging and .551 on base percentage. Aubrey Reed is batting .313 on 15 hits, two doubles, two home runs, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored. Sophia Knight leads Toledo in the circle as she has compiled a 4-5 overall record and a 4.57 ERA with 40 strikeouts in 46.0 innings of work across 13 appearances.
