
Bulls Sweep Niagara 7-0 In Non-Conference Finale

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team concluded non-conference action on a high note Monday as UB defeated Niagara 7-0 at the Miller Tennis Center. The Bulls improve to 11-3 on the year with the victory.
UB took all three matches in doubles beginning with a 6-1 victory from Pia Schwarz and Azra Deniz Comlek. At second doubles, Gabriella Akopyan and Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou won 6-3 and the third doubles squad of Ambre Amat and Lolina Schietekat Sedas won 6-4.
Singles action continued with straight-set wins in all six matches. Schwarz won at first singles, 6-2, 6-0, while Hsin-Yuan Shih came away with the 6-3, 6-1 victory at two. Akopyan added the 6-2, 6-0 win at three and Amat had a 6-2, 6-3 victory at four.
Comlek added a 6-4, 6-1 win at fifth singles and Antoniou-Karademitrou clinched the shutout win with a 6-2, 6-1 win at sixth singles.
"I was very impressed by our execution today and thought this was a great match to play right before conference play," said head coach Kristen Maines. "Everybody did their job today on court and I am just so excited to see this group perform in the Mid-American Conference."
The Bulls open up Mid-American Conference play on Friday at Miami (OH).
