
Fair Named A Top 10 Semifinalist for Becky Hammon Award

HOPEWELL, NJ - University at Buffalo women's basketball junior guard Dyaisha Fair has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the 2022 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award, as announced by Her Hoop Stats on Wednesday.
After previously being named to the award's mid-season watchlist as the lone representative from the Mid-American Conference and is the only player to make the list in three straight seasons, Fair now receives semifinalist honors for the first time in her career.
Fair has started all 26 games for the Bulls this season, leading the way in scoring with 23.8 points per game while also adding 5.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game and a 2.04 assist-to-turnover ratio. She currently leads the MAC and ranks fourth in the nation in scoring (23.8 ppg) and also ranks in the top 20 in field goals made (209), three point field goals made (70), three point field goals made per game (2.7), free throws made (130) and final points (618). She has scored in double figures 25 times this season, 19 times with 20 or more points and six times with 30+ points. The Rochester, NY native was also named to the Dawn Staley Award Later Season Watch List earlier this month.
The Becky Hammon Award was first awarded in 2020, with South Dakota's Ciara Duffy being named the inaugural winner. This year's semifinalists includes representation from 10 schools and 10 conferences.
To be eligible for this award, players must compete in one of the 26 conferences deemed to be "mid-major." Her Hoop Stats will announce five finalists in early March and the winner will be announced around the Final Four.
