
Bulls Travel to Northern Illinois on Saturday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team will conclude this busy week with its fourth game in eight days as they travel to DeKalb, IL for a clash with the Northern Illinois Huskies on Saturday, February 12 at 2pm ET.
The game will be streamed on ESPN3 with David Bernhard (play-by-play) and Patricia Babcock-McGraw (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on 1400 AM or on the Varsity Network with Matt Mattia on the call.
This is the 29th meeting between Buffalo and Northern Illinois, with the Huskies owning the 18-10 series edge. The Bulls defeated the Huskies 68-61 at Alumni Arena on January 29.
Buffalo is 16-7 overall and 10-3 in league play after defeating Eastern Michigan 93-68 at Alumni Arena on Wednesday. Summer Hemphill recorded her 1,000th career rebound in the win, becoming just the second player in program history to accomplish that feat. Dyaisha Fair led all scorers with 38 points to go with five rebounds, five assists and two steals. Freshman guard Georgia Woolley continued to impress as she cracked the 20-point mark for the fifth time in six games with 21 points while adding seven rebounds and a career-best six steals and junior Dominique Camp added a career-high 16 points to go with six assists and two steals. Hemphill just missed out on a double-double as she scored eight points while finishing with 14 rebounds.
Fair leads the Bulls and ranks fifth in the nation in scoring at 22.8 points per game. Hemphill is averaging just under a double-double with 14.2 points and 9.1 rebounds per game while Woolley has scored in double figures in 17 of the last 18 games and is averaging 13.9 points per game, the best amongst all rookies in the league. Buffalo is distributing the basketball at an excellent clip, averaging 15.8 assists per game and a 1.1 assist-to-turnover ratio, both ranking in the top 40 nationally while also ranking 56th with a +3.2 turnover margin. That leads to a potent offense which ranks 24th in the nation in scoring (75.8 ppg). The Bulls are ranked 73rd in the latest NET rankings. They are also ranked 23rd in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll.
Northern Illinois enters Saturday's contest with a 9-12 overall record and 6-7 league mark after falling at Bowling Green 81-52 on Wednesday. The Huskies are led offensively by by A'Jah Davis who is averaging a double-double with 15.6 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. Janae Poisson (12.6 ppg, 3.0 rpg) is also averaging in double figures. Since the start of the 2018-19 season the Huskies are 22-4 when scoring at least 70 points at home. NIU has also held seven of its last nine opponents to 70 points or less. NIU leads the MAC and ranks 27th in the nation with 42.0 rebounds per game. They have won or tied the rebounding battle in eight of their last 10 games. In MAC play, NIU is shooting 40.1 percent from the floor and are also leading the league in free throw shooting at 75.2%.
