Bulls Fall to Bowling Green in MAC Tournament Semifinal

MUNCIE, Ind. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (19-13, 10-8 MAC) lost their MAC Tournament Semifinal match to the No. 2-seed Bowling Green Falcons (21-9, 15-3 MAC), 3-0. This was the program's first appearance in the MAC Tournament Semifinal.
The Bulls dropped the match in straight sets, 22-25, 16-25, 16-25. There were 11 ties and four lead changes in the match. The key difference in the match was that Bowling Green finished with 43 kills to Buffalo's 35. The Falcons dominated the Bulls on the attack, outhitting the Bulls .407 to .165.
In the first set, the Bulls hung with the Falcons keeping it within a three-point game the majority of the time. Buffalo hit .385 with 16 kills, but Bowling Green had 19 kills while hitting .432 in the set. Katrin Trebichavska finished the set with four kills on six attempts with a team-high hit percentage of .667. She would also add a service ace in the set.
In sets two and three, the Bulls struggled offensively. In set two, Buffalo had a hitting percentage of .023 with just 10 kills. They ended up with nine attack errors and five service errors to give the Falcons a 2-0 set lead. In the third set, Buffalo took a 4-2 and 5-4 lead, but Bowling Green ran away with the set, taking it 25-16. The Bulls hit .077 as the Falcons hit .500 with 15 kills. Buffalo just had nine kills but had seven errors.
Mandy Leigh finished with 26 assists as Courtney Okwara led the Bulls with 10 kills and a hitting percentage of .529.
No. 2 Bowling Green will take on No. 1 Ball State, this year's host, in the MAC Championship game tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.
