
Cross Country Heads East for Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo cross country team will travel east on the I-90 to the University of Rochester for the Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational on Saturday morning. The first race of the day kicks off at 11 a.m. with the women's 6k. The men's 8k will start at 11:45 a.m. Both races will go through the historic Genesee Valley Park next to the campus.
ON THE MEN'S SIDE
After having last week off, the men come into this weekend ranked eighth in the USTFCCCA Northeast Region in Division I. They moved up one spot from the preseason poll. The team will face Brockport, Colgate, Cornell, Cortland, Fredonia, Geneseo, Hobart, Houghton, Ithaca, NYU, Nazareth, Niagara, Oberlin, Oswego, RIT, Rochester, and St. John Fisher at this weekend's invite.
After racing their first collegiate race, Cory Demo and Michael Neeson look to help the Bulls stay at the top of the leaderboard. Alex Hislop is fresh off a ninth place finish at the Tommy Evans Invitational and would like to have another top-10 finish for the Bulls.
ON THE WOMEN'S SIDE
The women look to break into the USTFCCCA Northeast Region top-15 after this weekend as they square-off against loaded competition. Brockport, Colgate, Cornell, Cortland, Fredonia, Geneseo, Houghton, Ithaca, NYU, Nazareth, Niagara, Oberlin, Oswego, RIT, Rochester, St. John Fisher, and William Smith.
Senior runner Riley Jones and junior Alexia Hecico have led the Bulls this fall with their veteran experience. Both finishing in the top-10 at the Tommy Evans Invitational, they'll look to push their teammates to improve their times and placement.
