Four Bulls Earn All-Academic Honors

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo volleyball team placed four individuals on the Academic All-MAC Team, the Mid-American Conference announced on Tuesday afternoon. Joining the squad was senior Lexi Nordmann, junior Paige Beck, and sophomores Emma Puzausky and Jenna Sonnenberg.
Nordmann is senior with a 3.757 GPA in mechanical engineering. She finished the year third on the team in kills with 146 and led the Bulls in blocks per set at 0.82. Six times she reached double figures in kills, including a career best 17 kills at Toledo. She had a season-high seven total blocks against Akron.
Beck has a 3.231 GPA and is majoring in exercise science. She saw action in 71 sets as a defensive specialist and finished with 89 digs. Beck had a season-high 11 digs at Western Michigan.
Puzausky, who was one of two setters used by the Bulls, has a 3.726 GPA in business administration. Puzausky finished the year season on the team in assists, while also chipping in 20 digs.
Sonnenberg rounds out the selections with a 3.915 GPA in exercise science. The North Tonawanda, NY native served as the team's primary libero for the year and finished with 299 digs in 78 sets, averaging 3.83 digs per set. She recorded double figures in digs in each of the final 14 matches, including a career high 28 digs in a four-set win at Akron, one of five 20-digs performances on the year.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. Student-athletes in their first year of competition are not eligible.
