Bulls Drop Saturday Doubleheader to Toledo

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo softball team dropped both games of its doubleheader against Toledo by a score of 10-2 on Saturday afternoon at Nan Harvey Field.
In game one, the Bulls would get on the board in the bottom of the first courtesy of an RBI walk by Jenna Richmond.
The Rockets would answer in the top of the second as Macey Moore hit a solo home run to left to tie the game 1-1 but Madelyn Hickingbottom would record a big strikeout with runners in scoring position to end the inning and limit the damage
Toledo would add to their lead in the top of the third as the Rockets scored two runs on four hits to take a 3-1 lead and would add an insurance run in the top of the fifth to go ahead 4-1.
The Bulls fought back in the bottom of the inning as Anna Aguon blasted a solo home run to right center field to cut the lead to 4-2.
The Rockets would break the game open in the top of the sixth as they got to freshman Julia Tarantino who came on in relief, scoring six runs on five hits to take a 10-2 lead and that would be all they would need to secure the victory.
Toledo would continue their hot hitting in game two as Dayna Denner hit a solo home run to right center field to give the Rockets an early 1-0 lead.
The Bulls would answer in the bottom of the inning as Alexis Matheney ripped a ball to the wall in left field and the Rockets' outfielder couldn't hang on to it, scoring Aguon to tie the game 1-1.
Buffalo would add to the lead in the bottom of the second as Richmond ripped an RBI double to the wall in left to give UB a 2-1 lead.
Toledo broke the game open in the top of the fourth as Aleah Marra ripped a two-RBI triple to the wall in right field and then scored on a UB throwing error to give the Rockets a 5-2 lead and they would add to their lead in the top of the fifth as they scored five runs on four hits to put the game out of reach.
Weather permitting, Buffalo will close out the series with Toledo on Sunday. First pitch is set for 12pm.
