β’ The University at Buffalo women's basketball team had its chances down the stretch but came up just short in a 65-62 loss at Kent State on Wednesday night.
β’ Buffalo was led by sophomore guard Dyaisha Fair who scored a game-high 23 points to go with four rebounds an assist and a steal. Cheyenne McEvans scored in double figures for the fifth straight game with 14 points and Keowa Walters added a season-high 13 points and eight rebounds.
β’ Buffalo dominated the paint 46-28 and won the battle on the glass 37-31 while scoring 15 fastbreak points but the Golden Flashes shot 9-of-26 from behind the arc compared to just 1-of-8 shooting from deep for UB.

β’ The Miami (OH) RedHawks enter Wednesday's contest with a 4-18 overall record and a 3-15 MAC mark after defeating Kent State 61-58 at the buzzer on Saturday.
β’ The RedHawks are led offensively by sophomore guard Peyton Scott who is averaging 21.8 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game. Kelly McLaughlin (12.5 ppg) and Katie Davidson (11.2 ppg) are also scoring in double figures.

β’ Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this season is unlike any other. The pandemic, which caused the cancellation of conference and national tournaments last season, has altered the way student-athletes and coaches get ready for each game.
β’ It is suggested and widely implemented that, all Tier 1 individuals, which include student-athletes, coaches, and day to day support staff, must test for COVID-19 at least three times a week on non-consecutive days. At Buffalo, this test is a rapid antigen test. Should those tests come back inconclusive, a second PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test will be administered.

β’ With last season's Mid-American Conference tournament being canceled due to COVID-19, the Bulls are the defending MAC champions. UB has its sights set on the MAC Tournament title once again this season and if they are successful, it would be the first time in program history that the Bulls win back-to-back MAC championships.
β’ In order to get to that point, the Bulls will play in a MAC that has a new look. The conference did away with East and West divisions and instead, all 12 programs will be seeded from top to bottom. The MAC also increased their league schedule to 20 games this year, the most UB has played in conference play since joining the league. First round campus site games have also been eliminated, with the top eight teams going straight to Cleveland.
