
Bulls Begin Four-Match Road Trip At Eastern Michigan

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo volleyball team will hit the road for the next two weekends beginning on Thursday when they start a two-match series with Eastern Michigan.
Buffalo is looking for its first victory of the year but has continued to improve and played well against the preseason MAC West favorites last week in Central Michigan. Offensively, freshman Milla Malik has been the top option since returning from injury and leads UB at 3.31 kills per set. Fellow freshman Emma Gielas leads Buffalo with 85 kills on the year.
Junior setter Kyndal Bacon had her best two-match stretch, including 48 assists in the first match against the Chippewas last week. She averaged over 12.0 assists per set in the two matches against CMU.
Defensively, the Bulls are led by sophomore Jenna Sonnenberg who has 87 digs and Bacon is second on the team with 70 digs. Sophomore Courtney Okwara leads the squad with 23.0 total blocks.
Eastern Michigan is 3-4 on the year with wins over Northern Illinois, Kent State, and Akron. The Eagles are currently second in the nation averaging 20.8 digs per set. Franki Strefling leads Eastern Michigan with 122 kills and Jayden Otto has a team-high 309 assists.
Three Eastern Michigan players have at least 120 digs, led by Bella Hommes who has 146. Raeven Chase leads the team with 24.0 blocks.
The teams will play at 6pm on Thursday evening and against 4pm on Friday. Both matches will air on ESPN+.
