BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo volleyball team returns to Alumni Arena after a week on the road as the Bulls will host Central Michigan on Thursday at 6pm and again on Friday at 2pm.
The Bulls are looking for their first victory of the year but got much needed reinforcements last week in their lineup as senior Lexi Nordmann played for the first time since the opening weekend and freshman Milla Malik made her UB debut after missing the first six matches.
Buffalo continues to be led offensively by freshman Emma Gielas who has 60 kills on the season and sophomore Abby Leigh who has 52. Fellow sophomore Courtney Okwara has chipped in 37 kills and has a team-high 16.0 total blocks.
Sophomore Jenna Sonnenberg and junior Paige Beck remain the top two on the team in digs, while Gielas is second to Okwara in blocks with 11.0.
Central Michigan, who was picked in the preseason to win the MAC West, is 3-5 on the season and coming off a pair of 3-1 losses to Western Michigan last week. Junior outside hitter Savannah Thompson leads CMU with 112 kills and 3.50 kills per set. Her 112 kills rank third in the MAC and her 3.50 per set ranks seventh.
Both matches against Central Michigan will stream on UB's official YouTube channel. Links are available at UBBulls.com.
