The final victory was an 8-4 win against a duo from Toledo. Tom Owen and Greg Hastings finished in third place in the third doubles flight. They won their opening match 8-6, before falling 8-6 in the semis. They closed out doubles play with the 8-3 win over Binghamton.
In singles, senior Simon Wibler made it to the finals of the second singles flight as he won his first match 7-5, 7-6 (5) and then he overcame a first set loss in the semis with a 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5) win. Wibler won his opening set in the finals, but lost in three sets.
Cheng Tang played at first singles, dropping his first two matches, but Tang finished on a high note with a 7-6, 6-1 victory on Sunday. "This weekend was a good gauge for where we stand against conference opponents," said head coach Lee Nickell. "We had mixed results, but overall, I am proud of our fight and willingness to learn. We have a lot of things to work on, but we are excited to get back in the spring and show the world what we can do."
