
Bulls Host Niagara on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team opens play in the month of December against Big 4 foe Niagara as UB continues its homestand at Alumni Arena with 7pm contest against the Purple Eagles.
The game will be streamed on ESPN3 with Matt Mattia (play-by-play) and Paul Peck (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on ESPN 1520AM or on the Varsity Network with Bob Gaughan on the call.
Buffalo is coming off a win over James Madison on Saturday. The Bulls outscored the Dukes 43-19 in the second half to complete the comeback in the first of four straight home games for UB. Junior guard Dyaisha Fair led the Bulls offensively with 26 points to go along with two assists, four steals and two blocks. Sophomore Cheyenne McEvans was fantastic on both ends of the floor, scoring 14 points while adding nine rebounds, six assists and four steals and senior Jazmine Young also scored in double figures with 11 points. Summer Hemphill dominated the glass as she pulled down a season-high 13 rebounds. Buffalo did what they do best turning defense into offense as they scored 19 points off 15 JMU turnovers while also scoring 27 fast break points.
Niagara enters Wednesday's contest with a 2-3 overall record after falling 83-71 at La Salle on November 20. The Purple Eagles are led offensively by Angel Parker who is averaging 14.2 points and 5.2 assists per game. Her sister, Aaliyah (12.2 ppg, 7.8 rpg) and Ally Haar (10.2 ppg, 3.4 rpg) are also averaging in double figures. Niagara played just 11 games in a Covid-shortened 2020-21 season, going 4-7 in those games. The Purple Eagles were picked to finish seventh in the preseason MAAC poll. Angel was named to the Preseason All-MAAC First Team after leading the Purple Eagles in scoring, rebounding and assists a season ago. Aaliyah has been named MAAC Rookie of the Week twice this season.
