
Volleyball Set to Host Season-Long Five-Match Homestand

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo volleyball team returns to Alumni Arena this weekend as the Bulls begin a five-match homestand with contests against Toledo on Friday and Ball State on Saturday.
UB is 9-7 on the season and 2-2 in conference play following a pair of losses to MAC East-leading Bowling Green last week. The Bulls are led offensively by sophomore Milla Malik, who has 220 kills on the season, averaging 3.61 per set. Junior Courtney Okwara is second on the team with 134 kills and a team-high .334 hitting percentage.
Freshman Mandy Leigh has continued to run the Buffalo offense as she has 592 assists, averaging 9.70 per set. She also has 16 aces, one off the team lead, which is held by Malik. Fellow freshman Hannah Jacoby holds the team lead in digs with 173, one of five players on the Bulls in double figures in digs. Sophomore Olivia DeBortoli leads UB with 1.02 blocks per set.
Toledo is 12-4 on the year and 3-1 in league action after sweeping Kent State last weekend. The Rockets have won three straight MAC matches after splitting the opening weekend against Ohio. Taylor Alt leads Toledo offensive with 203 kills and Ryann Jaqua leads them with 260 digs, averaging 5.00 per set.
Ball State enters its match against Akron on Friday with a 13-3 mark and a 3-1 record in the league. The Cardinals split their first two matches of conference play against Kent State and then swept Ohio last weekend at home. Four Ball State players have at least 100 kills on the year, led by Jaclyn Bulmahn, who has 178. Megan Wielonski dishes out a team-best 10.13 assists per set and Kate Vinson leads them defensively with 214 digs, averaging 3.45 per set.
Friday's match against Toledo will air on ESPN+, while Saturday's match will stream live on YouTube. The match on Saturday will also be Buffalo's Mental Health Awareness match and fans are encouraged to wear green.
Matches at Alumni Arena are free to the public. Facemasks must be worn inside Alumni Arena.
