
Bulls Hit Road For Two-Match Swing Through Michigan

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo volleyball team will remain on the road this weekend as the Bulls head to Michigan for a pair of matches. UB will face Eastern Michigan on Friday night, followed by Central Michigan on Saturday.
With just seven matches left in the regular season, the Bulls are fighting with nearly the entire league for one of the six spots in the upcoming MAC Tournament. Buffalo split its two matches on the road last weekend at Kent State with both matches going to five sets.
Overall, the Bulls are 10-13 this season and 3-8 in league play. Sophomore Milla Malik leads the team with 316 kills, averaging 3.51 per set. Junior Courtney Okwara is second on the team with 204 kills and she leads the group with a .307 hitting percentage.
Freshman Mandy Leigh continues to run the Buffalo offensive with 891 assists, averaging 9.90 per set. Leigh also leads the Bulls with 24 service aces. Defensively, Leigh is second on the Bulls with 230 digs, behind only classmate Maria Futey, who has 237 digs. Senior Kyndal Bacon chips in 207 on the year.
Eastern Michigan is 8-14 on the year and has an identical 3-8 record in league play. Samantha Basham leads the Eagles offensively with 260 kills, followed by Raeven Chase, who has 218. Chase is also EMU's leading blocker at 1.25 per set. Jayden Otto runs the offense with 816 assists and defensively, Kamryn Stilwell leads the group with 378 assists.
Central Michigan also has a 3-8 record in league play and is 9-14 entering the weekend. Savannah Thompson is the leader in kills for the Chippewas with 287, followed by 214 from Linnea Willer. Aly Gurtiza has 388 digs to pace CMU, followed by 349 from Thompson.
Both matches this weekend are slated to air on ESPN3.
