
Bulls Lead Wire-To-Wire In 90-62 Victory At Miami

OXFORD, OH – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team put forth their most complete performance of the season on Tuesday night as the Bulls evened their Mid-American Conference record to 1-1 with a 90-62 victory at Miami.
The Bulls shot 60.7% from the floor in the opening half as they took a 47-28 lead into the break. Junior Jeenathan Williams scored seven of the first nine points for UB as the Bulls opened the game on an 11-2 run. Another triple from Williams gave Buffalo its first double digit lead at 20-10, just over nine minutes in.
Buffalo led by as many as 21 points in the first half as the Bulls took a 47-28 lead into the break. During the opening half, the Bulls shot 81.3% from two-point range (13-of-16) as Williams had 13 points during the first 20 minutes of play.
Back to back threes from Jayvon Graves and Ronaldo Segu quickly increased the UB lead to 58-30 just over three minutes into the second half. Miami had cut the Buffalo lead to 67-46, but the Bulls answered with 11 straight points to take their largest lead of the game at 78-46 with 7:04 left.
The game was never in doubt, but for good measure redshirt freshman David Skogman capped off the night hitting his first two career three pointers.
"It started tonight for us on the defensive end and when we defend like that, we know the offense will come," said assistant coach Jamie Quarles. "I thought we got fantastic energy from the bench and it was great to see everyone contribute tonight. It was just a great program victory!"
11 players found the scoring column, led by Williams who finished with a game-high 21 points, while also finishing with a game-best four assists and adding six rebounds. Graves added 13 points and seven boards and senior David Nickelberry had a career high 12 points, while adding five boards and three dimes.
Segu finished with nine points, and Josh Mballa and Keishawn Brewton each had eight. Mballa saw action for the first time since Nov. 27, while Brewton, playing in his second game, added five rebounds.
Skogman finished with a career high seven points and Tra'Von Fagan and LaQuill Hardnett each had four points.
The Bulls absolutely dominated the boards as they had a 49-30 edge on the glass as five players had five rebounds or more. UB also finished with seven blocked shots, including two each from Hardnett and senior Brock Bertram.
The UB defense allowed Miami to shoot just 33.8% from the floor and 24% from three-point range.
The Bulls will continue their tough road stretch on Saturday night as UB resumes non-conference action at Syracuse. Tip off is at 6pm on ACC Network.
