Women’s Soccer Signs Alya Ruken to National Letter of Intent

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo women's soccer head coach Shawn Burke announced the signing of Alya Ruken to a National Letter of Intent on Monday afternoon.
Ruken comes to Buffalo from Toronto, Ontario where she attends Harbord Collegiate Institute and plays club soccer for the North Toronto Soccer Club and the NTSC League One team. Ruken has also represented the Ontario Provincial Team for her U14-U16 years. With North Toronto, coached by Chris Vikers, Ruken has had great success having won the OPDL Cup twice, while also leading her team to a Charity Shield victory in 2018. Ruken's North Toronto Nitros were also champions of the Ontario Summer Games in 2019 as well as quarter finalists at the Dallas International Girl's Cup in 2018.
Burke on Ruken: "Alya is a player who has always stood out to us on a very talented North Toronto club team. Her pace and technical ability are so dangerous that she can be used all over the field to exploit mismatches. Alya is a fantastic addition to an already strong 2021 recruiting class."
Ruken is the fourth player to sign with the Bulls in the 2021 signing class, joining Kaylin Ricci, Kaya Schultz and Arianna Zumpano.
