BUFFALO, NY – Head volleyball coach Scott Smith has announced the addition of Amanda "Mandy" Leigh, who signed a national letter of intent and will join the Bulls next fall. Leigh is the sister of current UB volleyball outside hitter/middle blocker, Abby Leigh.
Leigh is a 6-0 setter who plays at powerhouse Padua Franciscan. Through her most recent games, Leigh has led her high school to a 100-7 record over four seasons, including a perfect 20-0 record this year. Padua Franciscan is currently ranked as the top high school program in the nation by Maxpreps.com. In the most recent Prepvolleyball.com rankings from the end of October, Padua Franciscan is ranked fifth nationally. The team will compete at the State Championship Final Four this weekend.
As a senior, Leigh was named All-State honorable mention and first-team All-District. She was selected to the Under Armour All-American watchlist prior to the start of the season.
"Mandy is coming to us from one of the best high school programs in not only the state of Ohio, but the entire country," said Smith. "She has had experience running a sophisticated offense and knows how to win. Her overall consistency and control will be a nice addition to our setting position."
Leigh has seen success her entire career at Padua Franciscan as she finished as Division 1 state runner up both her sophomore and junior season, while she was a Division 2 state champion as a freshman.
