
Volleyball Returns Home For Senior Day Weekend

BUFFALO, NY – After playing their last four matches on the road, the University at Buffalo volleyball team returns home for their final home weekend of the season. The Bulls will play Bowling Green on Friday at 2pm and Miami (OH) on Saturday evening, which will be Senior Night.
The Bulls split their four-match road trip going 2-2 and UB is now 9-15 on the season and 5-7 in conference play. With just four regular season matches left, the middle of the conference standing are jammed pack with four teams tied for sixth place at 5-7 and two more teams sitting at 4-8. The top eight teams qualify for the MAC Tournament.
Senior Polina Prokudina has surpassed the 20-kill mark in three straight matches as she leads the Bulls with 287 on the year. Fellow senior Rachel Sanks adds 272 kills on the season. Senior Scout McLerran is just shy of 800 assists on the year, currently sitting at 796.
Defensively, the Bulls are being led by sophomore Paige Beck, who has a career best 365 digs and Buffalo features a potent blocking attack, averaging 2.17 a set. Both junior Lexi Nordmann and freshman Abby Leigh are averaging just under a block a set.
The Falcons, under eighth-year head coach Danijela Tonic stand at 14-10 (8-4 MAC). Last weekend, they fell to Kent State in four sets (25-23, 25-17, 23-25, 25-22), before topping Ohio in straight sets (25-19, 25-22, 25-19).
Offensively, the Falcons are led by sophomore Katelyn Meyer and junior Jacqueline Askin, who currently have 295 and 268 kills, respectively. Senior setter Isabelle Marcniak leads the team with 834 assists (9.27 per set).
Defensively, sophomore libero Julia Walz leads the way with 479 digs (5.57 per set), while junior Katie Kidwell leads the team in blocks with 103.
The RedHawks, under 36th-year head coach Carolyn Condit, come in hot currently riding an eight-game winning streak as they play at Akron on Friday night. They sit at 15-8 (10-2 MAC) on the season. Last weekend, they defeated Ohio in four sets (30-28, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21), before making quick work of Kent State in straight sets (25-17, 25-17, 25-18).
Offensively, the RedHawks are led by senior Margaret Payne and sophomore Gabe Harper, who currently have 222 and 202 kills, respectively. Junior setter Morgan Seaman and sophomore setter Louise Comerford have combined for 900 assists (11.04 per set).
Defensively, junior libero Abigail Huser leads the way with 285 digs (4.13 per set), while Payne also leads the team in blocks with 83.
Friday's match against Bowling Green will begin at 2pm due to the men's basketball game that evening. For those unable to attend the match will air on ESPN3.
Saturday's match will begin at 6pm and air on YouTube. Senior Day activities will take place following the conclusion of the match. The Bulls will honor five seniors: Rachel Sanks, Hannah Watson, Kristina Nieves, Scout McLerran, and Polina Prokudina.
