
Volleyball Hits The Road For A Pair Of MAC Contests

BUFFALO, NY – After playing their previous five matches inside the friendly confines of Alumni Arena, the University at Buffalo volleyball team will hit the road for the first time in Mid-American Conference play, heading to Miami (OH) on Friday night and Bowling Green on Saturday.
The Bulls are 5-9 on the season and 1-1 in MAC play having most recently defeated Toledo, 3-2. The Bulls have played four straight five-set matches dating back to the end of non-conference play. Senior Rachel Sanks leads Buffalo with 152 kills, while Polina Prokudina is second on the squad with 135. Senior Scout McLerran is pacing the Buffalo offense with 397 assists and sophomore Monika Simkova is the leading server with16 aces.
Defensively, sophomore Paige Beck is coming off a career-high 29 digs against Toledo and she leads the Bulls with 211 for the season. Just 14 matches into the year and Beck is only 36 digs shy of her total from all of last season. Junior Lexi Nordmann leads the team at 1.09 blocks per set.
Miami (OH) is 6-7 on the year and 1-1 in MAC play after defeating Kent State last weekend before losing to Ohio on Saturday. The RedHawks have been on an extended road trip and will be playing just their fifth home match of the year and their first since Sep. 3. Margaret Payne is leading Miami with 111 kills, while Gaby Harper adds 98. Morgan Seaman and Louise Comerford have split the setting duties as they have recorded 250 and 232 assists, respectively. Abigail Huser is one of three players with 100 or more digs, leading the way with 132 for Miami.
On Saturday, Buffalo will head to Bowling Green for what it hopes is the first of two trips to the Stroh Center this season since the Falcons will also host the upcoming MAC Tournament. The Falcons are 8-6 on the season and 2-0 in league play heading into their Friday night match with Akron.
Petra Indrova leads BG with 176 kills, averaging 3.45 per set, one of three Falcon players with 100 or more kills. Isabelle Marciniak contributes a team-high 500 assists, while she is also second on the squad with 144 digs. Julia Walz leads Bowling Green with 281 digs and Katie Kidwell is the team's leading blocker at 1.11 per set.
Friday's match at Miami will begin at 7pm, while Saturday's contest with begin at 5pm. Both will stream live on ESPN+.
