MINNEAPOLIS, MN – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team faced its biggest challenge of the season on Friday evening as the Bulls face No. 45 Minnesota. UB was swept 7-0 for the first time this year despite some impressive performances against their Big Ten foe.
In doubles, UB's number one team of Tanja Stojanovska and Dayana Agasieva came away with a 6-3 victory, but the Bulls narrowly fell in doubles as the Bulls lost at number three 7-5.
In singles play, Stojanovska took the first set at first singles, but lost in a third-set super tiebreaker. Minnesota won the other five matches all in straight sets.
"I thought we competed well, especially in doubles against one of the top teams in the Big Ten," said head coach Kristen Maines. "It is important that we play this caliber of competition because this is what is going to help us compete for a conference championship come MAC play."
The Bulls will remain in Minneapolis tomorrow afternoon when they face Iowa State at 12:00 pm EST.
