
Molly Rouse Named Women's Soccer Assistant Coach

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo, The State University of New York women's soccer head coach Shawn Burke has named Molly Rouse as assistant coach. Rouse's main responsibilities will include, recruiting, travel, camps, day-to-day activities along with working with the UB midfielders.
"We are excited to welcome Molly to our staff," said head coach Shawn Burke. "After a patient search, Molly clearly emerged as the perfect fit for our program. Her experience as one of the top midfielders in the Big Ten will pay immediate dividends as we look to replace our starting central midfielders from last year. Leaning on her experiences at both Shattuck's and Alabama St., Molly will play a major role in recruiting and working with our midfield group."
Rouse comes to UB after one successful season at Alabama State where she served as an assistant coach. Her main responsibilities for the Lady Hornets were recruiting coordinator and positional coach (midfielders).
Rouse helped lead the Hornets to an 11-10 overall record and a 7-3 conference mark while advancing to the semifinals of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament.
Prior to ASU Rouse served two years as assistant coach at Shattuck-St. Mary's, College Prep Boarding school in Minnesota. While at Shattuck, Rouse played a key role in all facets of the program's development towards new heights, which went beyond her primary duties as the assistant coach for the U18 team. Rouse was responsible for the program's alumni relations, travel coordination and organizing recruiting events.
Before arriving at Shattuck-St. Mary's, Rouse capped her stellar career playing in the Women's Premier Soccer League with the Vancouver Whitecaps.
As a player, Rouse starred at the University of Minnesota where she earned All-Big Ten honors twice. Rouse helped lead the Gophers to two NCAA Tournament appearances, 2008 and 2010, and played a major role in the Big Ten Championship game in 2008. The four-year starter in the midfield helped lead her squad to a pair of Sweet 16 appearances and served as the team captain during her junior and senior campaigns.
Rouse was named to the All-Big Ten freshman team during the 2007 season and then earned second team All-Big Ten honors as a junior. She was also named to the All-Big Ten Academic team three times during her outstanding collegiate career. The team leader also earned the team Midfield Most Valuable Player award as a junior and senior.
She graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education, a minor in Child Psychology, with an emphasis on American Sign Language from the University of Minnesota in 2010. Rouse currently holds a U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) National "C" License.
