
Bulls Fall At Ball State, 6-1

MUNCIE, IN - Playing for the second straight day without their number one singles and doubles player in the lineup, the University at Buffalo women's tennis team fell on the road, this time to Ball State, 6-1. The loss drops the Bulls to 10-2 on the season and 1-2 in conference play.
The host Cardinals took the doubles point, but the Bulls did pick up a victory at first doubles as junior Miranda Podlas teamed up with freshman Gopika Kapoor for the first time, winning 8-4. Ball State won matches at second and third doubles.
In singles play, Ball State won matches at first, second, third, fourth and fifth singles, but three of those matches went into three sets. Senior Tamara Markovic played at second singles for the second straight day and won her second set before falling in the third, 7-5. Sophomore Laura Fernandez had nearly the identical match at third singles as she also won her second set before falling in the third, 7-5. Kapoor went three sets in her match, while Anamaria Candanoza lost a pair of 7-5 sets at fifth singles. The Bulls did pick up a point at sixth singles as junior Marta Stoyanova won her match in straight sets, 7-6 (6), 6-2.
The Bulls return home next weekend when they host Western Michigan on Friday afternoon at 1:00 pm.
