
Bulls Fall In Five-Set Thriller

BOWLING GREEN, OH – The University at Buffalo volleyball team was unable to hold on to a 2-1 lead Friday night as it fell in five sets at Bowling Green, 3-2. The final set was one for the ages as the Falcons finally won it, 23-21.
The Falcons took the match 25-27, 25-16, 17-25, 25-14,23-21 as they outhit Buffalo, .215 to .159. The Bulls had several match points in the fifth set, but were unable to convert. It was a tight match through out the opening set as the Bulls were able to score the final two points after the set was tied at 25-25. The Falcons took the second set, but the Bulls came back to win the third 25-17. After the Falcons won the fourth set, the fifth became an epic affair that saw both teams have match points.
The Falcons ended up taking a 14-10 lead in the fifth set, just one point away from winning the match. However, the Bulls were able to fight back and scored four straight points, to tie the set up at 14-14. The Bulls had three match points in the fifth set, but were unable to convert. With the match tied at 21-21, Bowling Green scored the final two points for the set and the match.
Sophomore Tahliea Bishop led the way for the Bulls with 20 kills on 58 attempts, while Megan Lipski finished with a season-high 13 kills as she hit .314. Junior Liz Scott added 10 kills, while Carissa McKenna had six. Junior Taylor Pritchett added a team-high 29 assists, while senior Dani Reinert had 23.
Defensively, senior Kelly Svoboda had 24 digs, while Bishop added 17 and senior Dana Musil had 16. Pritchett added 14. As a team, the Bulls had 13 total blocks, led by seven from sophomore Amber Hatchett. McKenna and Bishop each added four.
The Bulls will be back in action tomorrow when they face Miami at 5:00 pm.
