MAC Championships Are This Weekend
The Bulls begin the postseason with this weekend's MAC Championships. Competition at the University of Akron is slated for Friday and Saturday, February 24 and 25. At last year's meet, held at Bowling Green, the UB men scored 63 points to finish fourth in a five-team race while UB women finished ninth among the 12 MAC schools with 33 points. UB swept the men's and women's shot put competitions with Rob Golabek and Becky O'Brien claiming their first indoor titles after both won titles at the 2010 outdoor championships. Russell Cameron rallied from second place on Friday to win his first MAC heptathlon title, breaking Steve Esler's 2003 record with his 5,364 point total for the seven events. The Bulls had four individuals earn All-MAC honors as Golabek, O'Brien and Cameon earned first-team honors while John Inzina grabbed a spot on the men's second-team.
