2013-14: Finished off his junior campaign with an overall record of 13-20 and a dual match record of 5-14 while competing at both 157 pounds and 165 pounds… his 13 wins ranked fifth on the team while he led the Bulls in three-point near falls (4)… he finished the season with eight takedowns and three riding time points.
2012-13: Finished the season with a record of 23-18, ranking third on the team in total wins...recorded a 3-8 record in dual meets and a 1-4 record in MAC action...led the team with 19 escapes on the season...recorded eight takedowns...took home a second place finish at the Lock Haven Invite (12/29) after going 3-1 on the afternoon...finished in third place at the NYS Intercollegiate Championships after going 6-1 including six straight wins...won five of six matches at the Oklahoma Gold Classic (11/17) as he took a third place finish.
2011-12: Handed the starting job at 157 pounds mid-way through the season and performed well, winning 13 matches (six in dual meets)... pinned Edinboro’s Casey Fuller in the second period of the team’s dual meet (1/7)... won two matches at the Virginia Duals, beating Bucknell’s Ray Schlitt 13-2 and Kent State’s Mallie Shuster 9-7 (1/13)... finished sixth at the NYS Collegiate Tournament (1/22)... pinned Northern Illinois’ Tyler Loethen in the team’s dual win over the Huskies (2/18).
2010-11: Redshirted but turned in a solid freshman season, finishing 15-11 in open action… competed in the UB Open, William & Jefferson Open, Bill Harris Open, Penn State Open, New York State Championships, JCC Open and National Collegiate Open… went 4-0 to win his bracket at the NCCC Open (12/4)... earned All-American status at the 2011 University Greco-Roman Nationals.
High School: Despite an injury-plagued senior year, Maziarz came in first at the state freestyle tournament and third in the greco tournament... Despite only being able to compete in 18 matches in his senior season, Maziarz leaves North Tonawanda High School as the career wins leader with 149 total victories... two-time team captain... also boxed and played football for the Lumberjacks... a NY National Team member.
Personal: Born February 27, 1992... son of David Maziarz and Sandra Leverenz and has two brothers - Dave and Jake - and one sister, Mary... favorite athletes are Muhammed Ali and wrestler Henry Cejudo... favorite quote is “what you have, give, because what you save you lose forever”... enjoys listening to country music... plans to study exercise science at UB.
