2017-18: Went 13-12 on the season… went 5-2 at the Clarion Open… went 3-1 at the Bearcat Open… Upset Wisconsin''s Evan Wick to earn a spot on the U23 World Team.
2016-17: Went 14-11 overall and 7-5 in duals on the season… went 3-4 in MAC duals… went 0-2 at the MAC Championships… had 25 takedowns and 17 escapes on the season.
2015-16: Posted a 6-8 overall record and 0-3 mark in dual action… was 0-2 in MAC duals… finished 1-2 at the MAC Championships… had one takedown and six escapes on the season.
2014-15: Stepped in and earned a starting spot for part of his freshman season... finished the year with a 12-13 overall record to go along with a 2-6 dual meet mark and a 0-1 MAC dual record... recorded eight takedowns and one victory by pin on the season... earned his first career dual victory in the first match of his career against Daniel Luty of Campbell (11/1), winning by decision, 6-4...won with a pin in his second career match against Dalton Baysinger of Cumberland (11/2).
High School: Was a six year member and two year team captain of the wrestling team at Eden High School. As a senior, he compiled a 44-2 record while collecting a class championship, a section championship and placing at the state tournament. For his career, Smythe racked up two top-three finishes at the NYS tournament, two class championships and two sectional championships. He leaves Eden with the school record for wins with 227.
